The Clay Co Jail is a detention center located at 800 9th Ave N Moorhead, MN which is operated locally by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Within its confines, the facility features an 18-bed Behavioral Mental Health Unit, devoted to delivering specialized mental health treatment to individuals grappling with criminal and behavioral health issues.

Operational adherence to Minnesota Administrative 2911 Rules, governing Jail Facilities, underscores the facility's commitment to compliance and quality standards, with licensing overseen by the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Oversight and management are entrusted to capable leadership, including Correctional Facility Administrator Kari Tuton and Assistant Correctional Facility Administrator Kate Johnson, supported by a dedicated team comprising five Sergeants, three Program Staff members, 42 Full-Time Correctional Officers, 10 Roster Correctional Officers, one Clerical Associate, and four Corporals.
