The GDC-Charles D. Hudson Transitional Center (TC) in LaGrange, GA, focuses on successful offender reintegration into society, crucial for effective crime control. Reentry and Treatment Centers offer structured environments and various programs aiding rehabilitation and community reconnection efforts. Collaborating with the Troupe Sheriff's Department, the Georgia Department of Corrections, and sometimes the US Marshal Service/Federal Bureau of Prisons, comprehensive reentry services prioritize education, substance abuse treatment, and workforce development. Facilities assist officers in monitoring compliance and serve as alternatives to pretrial detention, considering cost-effectiveness and reducing overcrowding. Emphasizing individual needs, family support, and community integration, the center aims for holistic support, empowering successful reintegration.

The Hudson TC was constructed in 2003 and can accommodate 155 residents. It opened in the same year and operates at a minimum-security level. The center's mission is to assist residents in successfully transitioning back into the community by providing social skills and employment training. Rutledge State Prison serves as the host facility for the Hudson Transitional Center.

Housing at the Hudson Transitional consists of two dormitories, each containing four-man rooms.

In terms of work details, 10 permanent residents are tasked with providing food service, building and grounds maintenance, and sanitation. The remaining residents are assigned to work release programs, where they engage in employment opportunities to develop skills and contribute positively to society.

A variety of programs are offered at the Hudson Transitional Center, including academic support for obtaining a General Education Diploma (Prep/Testing). Counseling services include individual and group counseling, the Odyssey Program, Basic World of Works, residence planning, substance abuse education, and services such as Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous and Fatherhood Services.

Recreation activities at the center encompass general recreation to promote physical and mental well-being. Religious activities include various worship services, Bible study sessions, and pastoral counseling.

Furthermore, vocational and on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities are available, including roles such as Maintenance Worker Lite, Food Service Lite, Line Cook Lite, Grounds Keeper, Laundry Housekeeper Lite, and Forklift Certification, aimed at equipping residents with employable skills for their return to the community.

The first step in the visitation process is to become an approved visitor. To do so, you must first fill out the Visitation Request Form and submit a completed form to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated. Please include a copy of supporting documentation (photo id, marriage license, and birth certificate) along with the application. Consent forms must be notarized before they can be processed. All visitors must apply regardless of age. They must also be mailed to the facility where the offender is currently housed (email forms will not be accepted).

Dress Code - For adults: No tank tops, no mesh or see-through clothing, t-shirts cannot be sleeveless. No chest, shoulders, or stomach exposed. A skirt may not be more than 2 inches above the knee. No stretch pants or shorts may be worn. Only children are permitted to wear shorts. No Contraband is Permitted
