The Johnson Co Jail is a detention center located at 278 SW 871 Centerville, MO which is operated locally by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Johnson County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Centerville Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

Located approximately fifty miles east of Kansas City, Johnson County is experiencing rapid growth and development.

Under Missouri state statutes, the county commission of each county is mandated to establish and maintain a county jail. The Revised Statutes of Missouri, Chapter 49.310, specify the requirement for a courthouse and jail in every county. Additionally, Chapter 221.020 stipulates that the sheriff of each county is responsible for operating the county jail, overseeing its custody, rule, keeping, and charge of all prisoners.

Visitation Information

ALL visits are an inmate Privilege, not a requirement. *Visitation is held on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday unless a holiday falls on that day. *Visitation hours will be 8:00 am to 10:30 am and 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
