My mentally disabled son sentenced to 2 years, what does that mean?

My son got 2 yrs, attorney said that meant no more than 4 months with time off for good behavior. Now he's been "asked" to sign up for a 9-month program. He has a mental disability and is scared not to sign anything they give him. What can I do?

Call the facility and talk to the counselor, they are regular people. Tell them your concern and ask for their input before either of you make a decision. As for the attorney, let it be known that this inmate thinks attorneys are cowardly liars and hardly any know what the %#&$ is up after the sentence is imposed. Don't pay them another penny. If he has a 24 month sentence (he mightbe looking at 85% of that), this program might be his ticket out early. Look into it, but forget that lawyer, he has no clue, whatever you'll find out will be educating him... do it yourself.
