Why is the testing process so long when there in a Diagnostic Prison? What is being done for like 6 weeks? Why are they so isolated? What education classes can they take while they are in Diagnostics or Prison?

This is a period of time where they are assessed for the next phase of incarceration. There is a medical assessment, a mental assessment, and education assessment, anger management, an overall feasibility study to determine the security level where they should begin their sentence. The isolation is on a case by case basis. Some determination is made in the beginning as to how well the inmate is adjusting to the incarceration. It will get better after they are there and can get into a meaningful routine. Once they are designated to a prison, there are several paths of education an inmate can choose. If they have their GED equivalent, then there are college level courses that can be obtained for a fee, just like if you were on the outside. The courses come from regular university curriculum but are proxied by the education department in the prison.
