The PSR specifically has to have drug or alcohol abuse or dependency detailed within twelve months of the crime; not necessarily a psychologist's recommendation. You will have a meeting with the psychology department, the interviewer will have you PSR and will know whether you are within the guidelines to get in. They will get your application in, they send it to Beaumont TX for approval. If you are approved, you will go to the RDAP wait list until you get closer to your out date. Normally, they want your last 9 months be in RDAP so that when you have graduated the class, you are close to release. Then you go to halfway house where you continue your treatment in bi-weekly meetings called T-DAP. Regarding your surrender: The letter, the contact list and the bible will be allowed, the watch might be allowed because they sell that very watch at the commissary. Nothing else will be allowed. You will be given two sets of greens, a belt, three pairs of socks, three/four underwear and work boots. Everything else you possess must be bought at the commissary and fit in your locker. You are allowed to spend $310 per month at the commissary. You can buy upgraded underwear, socks, sneakers, upgraded work shoes, sweats and hats. The first month is the hardest to stay within the budget because you will need to buy a radio ($40) and headphones ($10-30) because that is how you are able watch TV. Having a radio is a must, for TV and music.
