Are inmates notified of commissary account deposits?

I understand that an inmate gets commissary once a week. But if I send my friend money through Western Union, how will he know the money is there for his use?

Ask the inmate answer

The facility will provide a deposit slip to the inmate notifying them that they have money to spend for commissary
