ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) -- In the courtroom on Wednesday, Ex-Patriot tight end Aaron Hernandez was the only defendant mentioned by name in connection with the death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. But now, a man named Carlos Ortiz may be involved.

Hernandez was ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty to first-degree murder.

A Boston Globe reporter said Ortiz is being held on $1.5 million bond in connection with the murder case.

Ortiz was arrested in Bristol, Connecticut, the same place where Hernandez is from, and according to reports, has waived extradition to Massachusetts.

Prosecutor outlines Lloyd's murder

During Hernandez's arraignment, prosecutors detailed his every move leading up to Lloyd's murder. They said Hernandez and two other men picked up Lloyd at his Dorchester home early Monday morning and drove him to North Attleboro.

Investigators said the three returned to Hernandez's home, less than a mile away and someone destroyed surveillance footage inside.

Prosecutors allege a series of text messages and video clips create an incriminating timeline.

Lloyd's relatives said he was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee, that the two men were friends and that both men were out together on the last night of Lloyd's life.

Former Pats superstar arrives at Bristol County Jail

The now disgraced Hernandez arrived at the Bristol County jail in Dartmouth, Massachusetts not long after his arraignment Wednesday on murder charges.

Hernandez was escorted inside a place he will now occupy as an inmate, as Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson explained what happens next.

"The important thing I want to point out is that he'll be treated no better or worse than any inmate that comes through our door," Sheriff Hodgson said. "My staff have been briefed that there's not to be any hanging around or any attempt to be in the vicinity unless that's where you belong, and that all our policies and procedures will insure that he's given the proper care and custody, and the privacy and protection that any inmate would have when they are in the prison with our staff and otherwise."

Hodgson said when he spoke with Hernandez, he was polite and normal.

Police search Bristol home linked to Hernandez

Meanwhile, a home in Bristol belonging to Hernandez's uncle was searched Wednesday night. Police from Connecticut and Massachusetts went through the Lake Avenue house and combed it for more than two hours.

Eventually, investigators took a black folder out of the home as neighbors watched on.

"It hits home and it's a sad day," neighbor Tim Michaels said.

Residents of the Connecticut town said they are shocked to see what's happened to their former hometown hero.

"To be a role model to these kids and then do something stupid. It's really bad," Laura Carr of Bristol said.

Carr's daughter said Hernandez was always talked about even though her graduated a few years ago.

"Everybody talks about him. How he graduated from here and how he was a role model to everyone like the whole football team," Tanisheana Gonazalez said.

Also on Wednesday, The Patriots announced they had released Hernandez and expressed sympathy to Lloyd's family and friends.
