Locane-Bovenizer, 41, initially had been facing five to 10 years for vehicular homicide and another three to five for assault by auto for the injuries suffered by Fred Seeman.

But presiding Superior Court Judge Robert Reed, sitting in Somerville, said that he reduced the sentence because Locane-Bovenizer has two young daughters, including a 4-year-old who suffers from Crohn’s disease, an inflammatory digestive condition.

Fred Seeman and his son reacted angrily at the verdict the moment it was read, storming out of the courtroom after shouting questions at Reed.

A jury earlier had acquitted Locane-Bovenizer of a more serious charge of aggravated manslaughter, for which she could have faced 30 years in prison. Reed also found her guilty of a number of drunk-driving and motor vehicle offenses, which carry hundreds of dollars in fines and a license suspension.

Seeman was killed almost instantly on June 27, 2010, when Locane-Bovenizer rammed her SUV into the passenger side of the Seeman’s Mercury Milan, just as Fred Seeman was pulling into their driveway.

Locane-Bovenizer was traveling up to 18 mph above the posted 35 mph speed limit on the winding Cherry Hill Road. Her blood-alcohol level later was recorded at nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

The married mother of two daughters has been held at Somerset County Jail since her conviction by a jury in November.

The case drew attention in part because Locane-Bovenizer starred in the original 1992 season of the TV drama “Melrose Place” and played opposite Johnny Depp in the movie “Cry-Baby.”
