IRS Prisoner Re-entry Program

The IRS has a new FREE tax educational package called Get Right With Your Taxes, created and distributed by IRS Wage & Investment, Stakeholder Partnerships, Education and Communication (SPEC). These products were developed to be used in prisoner re-entry programs within various organizations, agencies and correctional institutions nationwide. The package is available both in English and Spanish and includes:

National Re-entry Resource Center

The National Re-entry Resource Center, established by the Second Chance Act, provides assistance to the prisoner re-entry field. They provide education, training, and technical assistance to states, tribes, territories, local governments, service providers, nonprofit organizations, and corrections agencies working on prisoner reentry.

A free website to search for job openings in all of Indiana, create a resume, explore career options, education, & training, complete online learning & skill development, and more.

Work One

Locate your local Work One office. Connect to re-employment services such as workshops, computer classes, online courses, federal bonding, vocational rehabilitation, Work Keys, and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). Build a great resume, obtain job search tips, and seek employment. Obtain assistance in using the Internet to complete online employment applications and attaching cover letters and resumes.

Goodwill Industries

Search for employment, build your resume and interviewing skills, pre-release services, basic skill development (GED, ESL), employment readiness training, occupational skill training, life skills, and job placement assistance. Complete free online learning in areas such as technology, literacy, math skills, Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, banking, how to use an ATM, and more that are self-paced or instructor-supported, including some in Spanish.

Dress for Success

Dress for Success Indianapolis helps women in need become self-sufficient by giving them the confidence and clothes to get a job and the support they need to develop a career. Three programs exist to support our mission: Suits for Success, Professional Women's Group and the Career Development Center. Suits for Success offers women professional attire and support, Career Development helps our women advance their skills and employment opportunities while PWG provides additional support, resources and career development opportunities.

SHARE Network

SHARE Network Indiana is a free, online, statewide Resource Directory created to help Hoosiers find a job, keep a job, or obtain a better job. Resource searches are based upon the service, its location/county, or provider name. SHARE Network Indiana is sponsored by the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, the Department of Workforce Development (DWD), and the Department of Correction (DOC), in collaboration with the United States Department of Labor.

IndianaHousingNow.org, sponsored by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, is a housing locator service that provides detailed information about rental properties and helps people find housing to best fit their needs. The service can be accessed at no cost online 24 hours a day or through a toll-free, bilingual call center at 1-877-428-8844, available M-F, 9:00 am - 8:00 pm EST.

Indiana Access to Recovery

INATR assists clients who want to get in recovery from substance use problems and disorders or need assistance maintaining their recovery. INATR pilots a recovery-oriented approach to care and helps clients gain access to a network of clinical, community and faith-based organizations who provide treatment and recovery support services to eligible individuals. Eligibility requirements are listed on the website.

§ DMHA Forensic Diversion
Forensic Diversion Programs (FDP’s) are dedicated to providing treatment alternatives for chemically dependent offenders who have long-standing histories of chemical dependency coupled with criminal behaviors and in some cases, co-occurring mental illness. These are multidimensional programs. The professionals who collaborate within the program are psychologists, psychiatrists, addiction therapists, mental health counselors, technicians, community corrections case managers and nurse practitioners.

NAMI Indiana

NAMI Indiana is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those persons who are affected by mental illness. The Self-Service Legal Center contains a lot of information to help you help yourself. You will find various court forms required by the courts and instructions on completing them. You will also find several court forms and other useful documents that have been translated into Spanish with the help of the Indiana Hispanic Law Project. This website will also show you different ways to find an attorney to assist you with your case; an explanation of what mediation is and how it works and a list of certified mediators; suggestions on preparing for court; items that court staff can and cannot help you with; web links to legal dictionaries and other legal materials; links to various courts in Indiana and the United States; and links to other self-service sites.

Legal Indiana Legal Services

Indiana Legal Services (ILS) is a a nonprofit law firm that provides free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income people throughout the state of Indiana. ILS helps clients who are faced with legal problems that harm their ability to have such basics as food, shelter, income, medical care or personal safety. Most of the cases ILS handles are cases such as family law where there is domestic violence, housing, consumer law, access to health care, and access to government benefits. ILS does not handle any criminal matters.
