Established in 1888 within the burgeoning timber town, the Aberdeen Police Department has evolved into a vital institution serving the community. Presently, the department comprises 38 commissioned officers and 17 civilian staff members, catering to approximately 17,000 residents spanning over 12 square miles. Annually, they respond to nearly 26,000 incidents and process roughly 1,900 inmates in their in-house jail facility also known as Aberdeen City Jail.
Nestled in the scenic Grays Harbor County, near the captivating Pacific Ocean, Aberdeen enjoys a picturesque locale only 50 miles west of Olympia, the capital of Washington State, and the bustling I-5 corridor. They offer round-the-clock police services, with their Records office available from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, to assist the public. Posting Bail - Bail may be posted at the Aberdeen Police Department after hours. However, unless a valid bail bond is utilized, only cash will be accepted. During regular business hours, from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., bail can only be posted at the Aberdeen Municipal Court.
Inmate Mail - All inmate mail intended for or sent by inmates of the Aberdeen City Jail, excluding legal mail, may be subject to inspection by the on-duty Corrections Officer. Cash, checks, and money orders will not be accepted. Mail containing sexually explicit content or posing a threat to inmate safety will not be accepted. The Aberdeen Police Department holds no responsibility for any loss of mail, cash, or items contained within the mail.
Inmate Personal Items - Only specific items are accepted at the Aberdeen Police City Jail, including new undergarment clothing and socks, which must be sealed in-store packaging (limit 2 sets), and properly packaged and identified prescription medication.
