The Elba Work Release is overseen by the Alabama Department of Corrections and consists of six community-based programs that supervise both pre-sentenced and sentenced offenders, prioritizing public safety and cost-effective alternatives to incarceration. Working in collaboration with the Department's Work Release Center, located at 1620 Boswell St Elba, AL, and other criminal justice agencies, the division oversees thousands of offenders in the community.
Elba Community Based Facility and Community Work Center, operated by the Alabama Department of Corrections, serves as a minimum custody facility for adult male inmates in Elba, Alabama. Established in June 1976, the facility is dedicated to providing inmates with various self-help, self-improvement, and treatment programs aimed at facilitating their rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society.

Among the programs offered at the facility are adult basic education classes and group sessions for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). These programs aim to equip inmates with essential skills and support systems to address their educational needs and substance abuse issues.
