The Brown Co Jail is a detention center located at 3030 Curry Ln Green Bay, WI which is operated locally by the Brown County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Brown County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Green Bay Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals.

The Brown County Jail accommodates 735 adults and 15 juveniles, with plans for expansion to add 128 beds. Currently, it houses inmates across 11 pods, including those for segregation, females, max security, assessment, direct supervision, juveniles, and inmate workers. The facility employs approximately 160 staff, including correctional officers, intake and housing corporals, lieutenants, accountants, and receptionists, as well as a jail chaplain who volunteers to support both staff and inmates.

In addition to traditional incarceration, the jail operates the Electronic Monitoring Program (EMP), allowing inmates with Huber privileges to serve their time at home using GPS-equipped electronic bracelets. This initiative is managed by sworn officers dedicated to maintaining the program's integrity and effectiveness.

Visitation Information

Here is a link to the Visitation page on the Sheriff's website to monitor late changes to policy or times. The length of each visit is 20 minutes with a maximum of 2 guests. There is no charge for on-site visits. Remote/off-site visitation will be charged $5.95 except for an attorney or approved professional.

Brown County reserves the right to cancel a visit due to a jail emergency. Cancelled visits for jail emergencies will not be charged and the account will be credited for the visit. Staff will not cancel visits at the inmate’s request. This must be handled by the visitor and not the facility.
