The California City Correctional Facility (CAC) is a privately owned facility by CoreCivic and operated under the authority of the CDCR. The facility was designed to provide inmates with programming opportunities aimed at reinforcing positive life choices. However, by November 2023, all inmates were moved out, and the state terminated its lease agreement. As a result, the prison is set to be effectively closed by March 2024.
