The Cochise Co Main Jail is a detention center located at 203 N Judd Dr Bisbee, AZ which is operated locally by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Cochise County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Bisbee Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals.

The Detention Division operates under the leadership of a Jail Commander, who is responsible for maintaining the custody of pre-trial prisoners and executing the judgments handed down by the courts. The division is guided by several key objectives aimed at ensuring the efficient and humane operation of the facility.

A primary objective of the division is to provide a level of supervision that respects human dignity while ensuring the maximum protection of the community, staff, and inmates. This involves creating an environment that minimizes the negative effects of confinement, thereby supporting the mental and physical well-being of those in custody. Additionally, the division seeks to enhance its management resources, technology, and skills, which are essential for meeting current demands and accommodating future expansion.

Preventing escapes is another critical objective, underscoring the division's commitment to maintaining a secure facility. The Cochise County Detention Division oversees the main jail and also manages two substations, which serve as temporary holding facilities. These substations are situated at 100 Colonia de Salud in Sierra Vista and 450 South Curtis Avenue in Willcox, providing additional resources to support the detention needs of the county.
