The FDJJ-Daytona Juvenile Residential Facility is within the jurisdiction of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice located at 1386 Indian Lake Rd, Daytona Beach, FL.
The facility provides supervision of youth in a safe, secure and humane environment. Services for youth include education, mental health, substance abuse, and health care. Medical and mental health are contracted services. Educational services are funded by the Florida Department of Education through local school districts.
A typical day in secure detention would involve hygiene, meals, school, structured physical and educational activities, and court appearance as scheduled. The average length of stay in secure state detention is approximately 60 days.
The Daytona Residential Treatment Facility, a State-owned institution, specializes in serving male adolescents aged 13 to 18 adjudicated to a high-risk sex offender treatment program. The program offers a range of services, including individual and family therapy, alongside daily group sessions. Program objectives aim to enhance problem-solving abilities, impart anger management and coping skills, foster insight into healthy regulation of sexual thoughts and behaviors, aid in identifying strengths and weaknesses, educate on accessing resources, stabilize mood and impulse control, provide guidance on medication management, and elevate overall functioning for successful community reintegration.
The anticipated length of stay varies based on individual progress in meeting treatment plan objectives and goals. Academic and career education form integral components of the program. The Daytona Juvenile Residential Facility operates as a Type 3 program, delivering instruction in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading. Career and technical pathways encompass Microsoft Professional Career Certification. Education services are facilitated through collaboration with the Volusia County School District.
Furthermore, the facility serves as a designated GED® test site. Administered by contracted provider Rite of Passage, Inc., the facility ensures comprehensive service provision.
