The Lake Academy is a State-owned non-secure residential commitment program facility catering to 30 females and an adjacent High/Maximum residential facility for just 12 beds, for those offenders aged 12 to 19, This program focuses on providing intensive mental health treatment services to youth exhibiting serious to severe symptoms of mental disorder, as well as impairment in social, emotional, and adaptive functioning. Additionally, services are available for youth diagnosed with borderline developmental disability (BDD) and developmental disability (DD).

The duration of stay at the Lake Academy is contingent upon the progress made by the youth in the program, including the completion of their performance plan goals, reduction of criminogenic risk factors, and addressing individual treatment goals.
