When someone you care about ends up in a state prison, it can be tough to navigate the ins and outs of the system. From figuring out how to stay in touch to understanding what you can do to make their time easier, it can feel overwhelming. That's where this webpage comes in handy. It's here to help you get the lowdown on FDC-Sago Palm Reentry Center so you can stay connected and support your loved one during their time inside.

Communication is important, the prison offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.

While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.

The Sago Palm Re-entry Center, affiliated with the Okeechobee Correctional Institution and designed for adult males, has a capacity to accommodate 384 individuals. The center offers a variety of programs and services aimed at preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society upon their release.

Academic programs provided at the center include Adult Basic Education, General Education Development (GED) preparation, Mandatory Literacy courses, Peer Tutor Training, and Pre-GED classes. These programs are designed to enhance participants' educational skills and improve their academic qualifications.

Vocational training opportunities are also available, covering fields such as Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Heavy Equipment operation, Hospitality (through Palm Beach State College's 2nd Change Program), and Plumbing. These vocational programs equip inmates with practical skills and certifications that enhance their employability prospects post-release.

Substance abuse programs at the center include both Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient treatment options, providing support and assistance to individuals struggling with addiction issues.

Chaplaincy services offered encompass Keryx Weekends and Multi-Faith Worship Services, catering to inmates' spiritual needs and providing opportunities for religious and spiritual growth.

Institutional betterment programs focus on personal development and rehabilitation, including a 100 Hour Transition Program, various sports activities (both active and passive), Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, Addiction Prevention initiatives, Anger & Stress Management courses, programs for Children of Inmates, Community Model initiatives, Compass 100 programming, Faith & Character Based programs, Family and Parenting workshops, Job Readiness training, Law Clerk Training/Certification, Law Library access, Library Programs, Life Skills training, New Horizon Service Dog Program, Peer to Peer Motivational Dorm Program, Toastmasters Gavel Club, and Victim Impact sessions. These programs aim to foster positive behavioral change, develop life skills, promote personal growth, and facilitate successful reintegration into society.

Through these comprehensive programs and services, the Sago Palm Re-entry Center strives to empower individuals to overcome challenges, develop essential skills, and build a foundation for a positive and productive future beyond incarceration.

The state prison is designed with "pods," featuring a large common area with affixed tables and attached seats, and individual cells typically on two levels. Inmates spend certain times in their cells and other times congregating in the pod for activities like playing cards, games, reading, or watching television. Movement outside the pod, such as trips to the commissary, library, or recreation area, occurs under the constant supervision of unarmed correctional officers.

The prison offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Alternatively, setting up an account through a third-party phone company may entail high fees per minute of usage. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. Books and magazines ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. The Jail enforces this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials.

Inmate workers are chosen based on conduct and cooperation with staff. Participation in the community service program can sometimes reduce sentences. Commissary is available weekly, with orders submitted via kiosk two days in advance. On holidays, there may be increased spending limits. Upon receiving commissary items, inmates must present their ID, check their order, and sign for it in the presence of the commissary employee. Indigent inmates are provided with all essential basic hygiene items including USPS stamps and writing materials.

Inmate Locator

Sago Palm REC maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.

If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
