Located in Arcadia, FL, FCCC operates as a private contractor with various government agency agreements providing state-minimum custody requirements. Programs are offered to all custody levels, including work release residents focused on reentry success. With a strong emphasis on rehabilitation, FCCC provides comprehensive educational and vocational opportunities. Onsite amenities include dietary, health, fitness, educational, religious, and recreational services. Regular inspections ensure compliance with government standards, ensuring the facility's continued operation.

The Florida Civil Commitment Center (FCCC), situated in Arcadia, Florida, operates as a mental health and correctional facility exclusively for civilly committed sex offenders. Originally the site of the DeSoto Correctional Work Camp, adjacent to the DeSoto Correctional Institution, FCCC is managed by Correct Care Solutions, a private company, under a contract with the Florida Department of Children and Families. The facility, with a capacity of 720 beds, opened in 2009 and serves to house and provide treatment for individuals deemed sexually violent predators until their mental condition is deemed safe for release.

Despite being operated by a profit-making company, FCCC is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. However, reports from the Department of Children and Families have highlighted staffing issues, including unfilled treatment/mental health positions and vacancies in security officer positions. Nevertheless, state authorities have acknowledged Correct Care's efforts in managing a challenging population.

Under the Jimmy Ryce Act, inmates with a history of sex offenses nearing release from Florida prisons undergo rigorous assessment to determine the risk of re-offense. Those deemed likely to reoffend are transferred to FCCC to await commitment trials, which can often be prolonged. The delays in these trials have drawn public criticism, with concerns raised about the functioning of the civil commitment system.

The commitment trials are crucial as they determine whether individuals remain at FCCC or are released. If deemed a continuing danger, commitment is indefinite, with the opportunity for annual appeals for release. However, upon release, individuals receive no support from government agencies, relying instead on limited assistance from private charities like Miracle Village.

Overall, FCCC's role in managing civilly committed sex offenders reflects the complexities and challenges inherent in addressing public safety concerns while upholding individuals' rights and ensuring effective rehabilitation.
