The Fond du Lac Jail is a detention center located at 63 Western Ave Fond du Lac , WI which is operated locally by the Fond Du Lac County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Fond Du Lac County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Fond du Lac Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals.

According to Wisconsin State Statute 59.27(1), the Sheriff is legally required to take charge and custody of the County Jail/Secure Detention Facility and the persons held within it. The Sheriff assigns correctional officers to ensure the safety and security of the public, staff, and inmates/juveniles. Inmates are not allowed to receive incoming calls but have access to telephones once moved to a housing area within the facility. All outgoing calls are collect calls, and depending on an inmate's classification, they may be allowed to purchase phone time. Calling cards from outside vendors are not compatible with the jail's phone system.

Family and friends can leave a voice message for inmates by dialing (920) 263-9930. Inmates are notified of messages the next time they dial into the phone system. Listening to messages is free for inmates, but leaving a message costs the caller one dollar. Inmates can save and replay messages.

The court may grant Huber privileges for work, seeking employment, attending to family needs, or participating in school or treatment programs, pending approval and verification by Jail Administration. The GPS Division administers the Huber program under strict rules. Inmates' behavior and preparations determine their ability to exercise Huber privileges on the GPS program.

Inmates sentenced to the Fond du Lac County Jail must complete the "Jail Information Packet" immediately and deposit it in the box by the Clerk of Court, 2nd floor of the City/County Building at 160 S. Macy Street. Upon receiving the Judgment of Conviction (JOC) from the court, GPS will contact the inmate to schedule a report-in date, which will be within 60 days of sentencing unless otherwise ordered by the judge. For additional information, inmates can call the Fond du Lac County Jail at (920) 906-5511.

Huber fees are $22.00 per day or $154.00 per week. The first two weeks of Huber fees must be prepaid ($308.00) to exercise work release and must remain prepaid throughout the entire stay. Fees are charged for every day up to and including the release date and must be deposited in the Jail ATM located in the Jail lobby off Western Avenue. There is a $3.00 fee for any cash ATM transaction, charged by the ATM owner.

All transfer requests are managed by the GPS staff. To transfer to another county jail, inmates must complete an information packet providing work details before the request is processed. When GPS staff contacts the inmate to set up the report-in date, they should inform them of the transfer request. It should be noted that the county requested for transfer must agree to accept the inmate, as each county has its own rules for accepting transfers.
