These detainees are also entitled to receive a stamp and an envelope once a week upon request to correspond with family and friends.

Within 24 hours of an inmate's arrest or booking, friends or family are permitted to provide specific personal items, provided they are new and in original packaging. These items include four white t-shirts, four pairs of boxers (preferably white), four white bras without underwire, four pairs of white underwear, four pairs of white socks, one small flexible comb without sharp ends, one softback Bible, and one pair of white thermal underwear for winter months. These contributions help ensure that detainees have access to essential personal items, promoting their well-being while adhering to the facility's regulations on safety and hygiene.

The jail is designed with "pods," featuring a large common area with affixed tables and attached seats, and individual cells typically on two levels. Inmates spend certain times in their cells and other times congregating in the pod for activities like playing cards, games, reading, or watching television. Movement outside the pod, such as trips to the commissary, library, or recreation area, occurs under the constant supervision of unarmed correctional officers. The environment in the county jail is considered less stressful than that of a prison because the sentences are much shorter.

Inmate workers are chosen based on conduct and cooperation with staff. Participation in the community service program can sometimes reduce sentences.
