Located in New Castle, IN, NCCF operates as a private contractor with various government agency agreements providing state-minimum custody requirements. Programs are offered to all custody levels, including work release residents focused on reentry success. With a strong emphasis on rehabilitation, NCCF provides comprehensive educational and vocational opportunities. Onsite amenities include dietary, health, fitness, educational, religious, and recreational services. Regular inspections ensure compliance with government standards, ensuring the facility's continued operation.
Established in 2002, the New Castle Correctional Facility stands as the inaugural privately managed correctional facility owned by the Indiana Department of Correction (IN DOC). Awarded to The GEO Group, Inc. in 2005, the facility accommodates a maximum of 3,200 adult male incarcerated individuals across security levels 1-4, including special needs and maximum security. In collaboration with various partners, The GEO Group, Inc. offers a comprehensive range of services, encompassing specialized medical care, educational and therapeutic programming, and vocational opportunities.
Aligned with the DOC's mission, the NCCF is committed to delivering a full spectrum of correctional services and evidence-based programming. These initiatives target academic, vocational, cognitive behavioral, substance abuse, life skills, and transition planning needs, aiming to address criminogenic factors and minimize the likelihood of recidivism. The facility caters to a diverse population, encompassing minimum security, maximum security, protective custody, severely mentally ill, and sex offenders, within a framework governed by stringent safety and security standards.
At NCCF, a diverse array of programs is available to incarcerated individuals, designed to address various needs and facilitate rehabilitation. These include academic initiatives such as Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), literacy, and English as a Second Language (ESL). Additionally, cognitive-behavioral programs like Thinking for a Change 4.0 (T4C) aim to promote positive thinking patterns and decision-making skills. Substance abuse treatment and addiction recovery programs are provided alongside Purposeful Living Units Serve (PLUS), offering a supportive environment for personal growth. Career development opportunities encompass vocational training in building trades, horticulture, culinary arts, barbering, and business computer applications, among others. The facility also houses specialized units such as the Military Veterans Unit (HUMV) and offers programs like Indiana Sex Offender Management and Monitoring (INSOMM) for tailored support.
