La Paz Co Jail is for County Jail offenders sentenced up to twenty four months.

All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for County - medium facility.

The La Paz Co Jail is a detention center located at 1111 Arizona Ave Parker, AZ which is operated locally by the La Paz County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. La Paz County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Parker Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals.

The objective of the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division is to provide a safe and secure environment for individuals committed to the custody of the Sheriff while ensuring the protection of citizens and crime victims in La Paz County through a cost-effective care and custody system. The division aims to achieve this objective by maintaining ongoing communication and improving services to law enforcement agencies in La Paz County and the community it serves.

All Detention Officers are required to complete the Arizona Detention Association Basic Detention Officer Academy. In addition, detention personnel receive ongoing and refresher training throughout their employment to maintain and enhance their skills.

The Inmate Services Officer manages all programs and services available to inmates at the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Facility. These programs include Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.), Narcotics Anonymous (N.A.), bible studies, church services, anger management, and other social programs. Community volunteers generously contribute their time to support these programs. Additionally, inmates have access to notary services, commissary items for those with funds, and indigent packets for those without.

Inmates at the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Facility receive professional and efficient medical treatment for physical illnesses, chemical dependencies, and psychiatric problems during their incarceration. This ensures that inmates' health needs are adequately addressed while they are in custody.

Inmates are permitted to make telephone calls from their housing areas, with all outgoing calls to the public being collect calls charged nearly $10.00 each. However, there is an option to make calls at a reduced rate of $3.15. Messages for inmates are not accepted unless in a verified emergency situation, and incoming calls to inmates are not permitted except under similar emergency circumstances.

Visitation Information

Visitation Hours:

Males: Wednesdays & Saturdays – 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Females: Tuesday & Sunday - 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

The Detention Division allows and encourages inmates to maintain contact with family and friends through regular visits. Each inmate may receive up to two visits per week, for 30 minutes each visit. Appointments must be made in advance by calling 928-669-5816. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Visits may be denied if the visitor is intoxicated, inappropriately dressed, or at the discretion of Detention Personnel for the safety and security of the facility.
