The Lee Co Downtown Jail is a detention center located at 2115 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Ft. Meyers, FL which is operated locally by the Lee County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Lee County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Ft. Meyers Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Inmates are no longer allowed to receive physical mail, magazines, or books.
The ESE/Juvenile School Program is operated by the Lee County School District, catering to incarcerated individuals under the age of 18 and those enrolled in an ESE program in Lee County who are under the age of 22. This program also assists participants in preparing for the GED test.
The GED Program is available to inmates who do not possess a high school diploma. It offers assistance in preparing for the GED test, allowing inmates to take the test when they are ready.
The Lifeskills Program aims to teach basic life skills to inmates to help them lead productive lives. Topics covered include anger management, alternatives to domestic violence, parenting skills, communication skills, men's and women's issues, resume writing, job interviewing skills, and more.
The New Directions Program is a faith-based initiative led by the facility Chaplain, involving members from community churches. It addresses many of the topics covered in the Lifeskills Program but from a faith-based perspective.
The Residential Substance Abuse Treatment program collaborates closely with the court system, with most participants being court-ordered. This program includes all the topics from the Lifeskills Program, with a particular focus on helping inmates with addiction problems.
Several self-help groups are available to inmates, facilitated by volunteers who bring their messages into the facilities. These groups include Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and Al-Anon, which supports individuals coping with someone who has a substance abuse problem.
The Inmate Case Management program targets inmates at high risk of reoffending and those sentenced to three months to one year.

All visitations for the Jail are conducted through a video monitor. Each inmate will be allowed two (2) visitations per week for one (1) hour each. Up to two (2) visitors from the Inmate’s Authorized Visitation List will be allowed to visit with the inmate; children under one year of age will not be included in the count.
