The MDOC - Madison County Community Work Center (CWC) is a correctional facility located at 140 Corrections Drive in Canton, MS. Prisons are longer-term facilities run by the state or the federal government that typically hold felons and persons with sentences of more than one year. The Madison CWC also houses inmates arrested by this county’s municipal police departments including the Canton Police Department.

Convicted and Sentenced Inmates
When an inmate is convicted and sentenced to a year or more, they are transferred to the Mississippi State Prison System or the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Inmates who are convicted of a misdemeanor and/or sentenced to less than one year of a state crime serve their time in the county jail. Illegal immigrants convicted of a state or federal crime will first do their time, they may then be transferred into ICE custody for deportation.
