The Menominee Co Jail is a detention center located at 831 10th Ave Menominee, MI which is operated locally by the Menominee County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Menominee County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Menominee Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals.

You can see all the arrest records for Michigan here.

The Menominee County Jail, with a capacity to house 51 inmates, imposes an Inmate Administration Fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and a twelve-dollar ($12.00) Booking Fee mandated by the State of Michigan. These fees are supplementary to any charges for medical and dental services, prisoner board costs, and court-imposed fines.

Upon admission, inmates undergo a classification process to determine their security level, categorized as maximum, medium, or minimum. This classification is determined during the booking interview, where an officer assesses current charges, prior convictions, and previous incarcerations. Housing assignments are based on this classification, ensuring inmates are housed with those of similar security levels whenever possible. Housing assignments may be adjusted as needed to meet the jail's requirements.

Inmates are required to keep blankets and other bedding in their cells, not in day rooms. Hanging bedding, towels, or clothing over windows or bars to obscure views is prohibited. Any excess bedding beyond what is issued is considered contraband and may lead to disciplinary action. Hygiene is strictly maintained, with daily showers available and mandatory at least three times weekly. Showers are accessible after breakfast, and personal items must not be left in the stalls. Disposable razors and nail clippers are available upon written request. Each inmate is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in their cell or bunk area and the day room. Beds must be made after breakfast and remain made when unoccupied. Cleanliness is subject to correctional officer inspection, and failure to meet standards may result in disciplinary action.

Inmates are issued jail clothing and slippers during booking, for which they are responsible. Damage to these items incurs replacement costs deducted from the inmate's canteen account. Proper attire must be worn at all times outside of showering or sleeping, and any attempt to visit with torn or unauthorized clothing is not permitted. Clothing is exchanged and inspected twice weekly, with the standard issue being orange pants and an orange T-shirt or sweatshirt. Additional underwear and long underwear can be purchased through the commissary and must be worn only under the assigned uniforms.

Inmates can purchase phone minutes through the commissary, and friends and family can also buy phone time through CidNET.net. Outgoing calls to court, probation/parole, or other agencies must be requested in writing and are granted only on Fridays, subject to time and personnel availability. Inmates can contact attorneys free of charge from cellblock telephones. The facility does not deliver messages or take incoming calls for inmates unless in emergencies, such as family deaths, hospitalizations, or childcare crises. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged. Phone privileges can be revoked if misused.

Inmates' funds can be deposited through a kiosk in the 10th Avenue lobby or online at jailatm.com. Checks received by mail are placed in the inmate's property, while money orders are added to the inmate's account. Any outstanding debts, such as administration or medical fees, are deducted from deposits at a rate of twenty-five percent (25%), with booking fees deducted at one hundred percent (100%).

Books and magazines ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate.

Canteen services are offered weekly, with orders placed by Monday lockdown, submitted on Tuesday, and typically delivered on Wednesday. Holiday schedules may alter delivery times, and inmates are notified of any changes. Personal necessities must be purchased before "junk food," with limits set on some items. Smoking materials and gum are prohibited. Released inmates can retrieve their held canteen orders within one week during business hours. Deposits for commissary must be made by 7 a.m. on Tuesday for that week's order. Outstanding booking fees must be paid in full before canteen purchases, and twenty-five percent (25%) of deposits go towards other debts.

Visitation Information

Video visitation is available via CIDNET 7 days a week. Inmates with credit on their account may receive calls until 10 PM daily.
Free video visitation is available via the CIDNET kiosk located in the jail lobby. This option is available during select hours only; please call 906-863-4441 or 1-800-236-0242 for more information.

You must have an account set up to visit your individual on CIDNET. Your individual must be an approved contact by Correctional staff before being able to communicate with you. You must know your inmate ID number and your password. This is not a requirement but is a privilege. If there is inappropriate behavior being done during a visit a correctional officer will stop the visit and it may result in disciplinary action.

Lobby visits are free of charge via kiosk and will be limited to one (1) visit per day with a thirty (30) minute maximum per individual up to two (2) times per week. The lobby will be open for visits from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM. There will be no visiting allowed during the hours of 11:00 AM- noon and 4:00 PM-5:00 PM.

If a visitor in the lobby becomes obnoxious or incorrigible at any point during their visit, whether to the correctional officer or to the inmate they are visiting via CIDNET, they will be immediately removed from the facility. Additionally, such behavior may result in the visitor being suspended from future visits. Should a visitor be deemed under the influence of alcohol or drugs, they will be prohibited from visiting and may also face temporary suspension from future visits to the facility.
