At the Mesa County CO Work Release, inmates with good behavior have access to traditional jobs in the public sector during the day. The program offers varying degrees of freedom, some even allowing prisoners to work during the week and return home, serving their sentences on only weekends. Depending on the terms (which change from time to time), inmates may reside in a halfway house or under home confinement when not working. As they near their release date, residents may transition to reintegration programs, with potential offers of full-time employment upon full release.
Work release program initiatives have proven benefits, including increased employment opportunities post-release, accelerated job acquisition, higher post-release earnings, and reduced recidivism rates among participants. Mesa Co WRF is committed to empowering inmates with skills and opportunities for successful reentry into society.
Mesa County Work Release offers an alternative sentencing option, allowing individuals serving felony sentences to remain in the local community. With an average capacity of 160 individuals, MCWR provides both residential and non-residential supervision. Clients typically spend eight to 12 months in the residential setting before transitioning to non-residential status.
Upon admission, each client is assigned a Case Manager who conducts a thorough assessment to identify individual risks and needs. Based on this assessment, personalized case plans are developed, and clients are referred to appropriate services. Case Managers oversee clients' progress toward their goals and provide support to help them successfully navigate the program.
The residential campus is staffed around the clock to oversee daily operations and provide guidance to clients in adhering to program guidelines. The Work Release Center offers a range of services, including employment assistance, financial management support, treatment programs, and educational opportunities. These services aim to address clients' needs while reducing their risk of future involvement in the criminal justice system.
Throughout their participation in the program, clients have the opportunity to strengthen their ties to the community by maintaining connections with family, securing employment, accessing treatment services, and engaging in community activities. Emphasizing evidence-based principles, Mesa County focuses on promoting healthy behaviors and positive interactions among clients, ultimately fostering successful reintegration into the community and reducing recidivism.
