BACKGROUND
The Midtown Center provides temporary housing, monitoring and transitional services for 32 medium security adult female offenders. The center’s midtown Anchorage location places it near numerous community work service sites, offering residents multiple employment opportunities.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Residents receive help transitioning from a life of crime to one of responsibility and productivity. This process includes teaching life skills such as positive social interaction, and cooking and maintaining healthy environment. Newly placed residents are subject to a highly structured environment. Residents can serve sentences of up to one year at the facility, with an average length of stay between 30 to 90 days. Security measures include 24-hour custodial supervision, closed circuit surveillance cameras and frequent census checks. Each of the eight housing units includes a kitchen where residents are responsible for cooking their own meals.

Substance Abuse Counseling HIV/AIDS Education, Counseling, and Testing Life Skills (including Anger/Stress Management, Budgeting, Banking, Parenting, Personal Hygiene, Securing Housing, and Victim Impact and Awareness Community Work Service Work Release Programs Transitional Services Employment and Social Skills.
