The Multi-County Correctional is a locally operated low to medium-security regional detention center situated at 1514 Victory Rd in Marion, OH. This facility houses inmates from multiple surrounding counties that do not have a holding facility or jail, in addition to local detainees. Individuals awaiting trial or sentencing, as well as those serving shorter sentences, typically serve less than five years. Multi-County Correctional accommodates detainees brought in by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the Ohio DOC, Marion Police Department, and other nearby law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

New detainees arrive frequently and may be released on bail, under pretrial supervision, or on their recognizance with a commitment to appear in court. Those who remain in custody receive essential amenities, including secure accommodations, meals, and access to necessary services. To review recent arrest records for Ohio, you can access public records here.

The Multi-County Correctional Center, established in 1999 through a collaborative effort by the Marion-Hardin Corrections Commission, serves as a full-service jail accommodating 220 inmates from Marion and Hardin Counties. Located in Marion, Ohio, this facility operates under the Ohio Revised Code Section 307.93 and is overseen by an Executive Director appointed by the Commission.

Staffing at the Multi-County Correctional Center includes a dedicated team of corrections professionals and support personnel. This comprises forty-three Corrections Officers, six Sergeants, four Lieutenants, one Captain, and ten full-time support staff members, including roles in Human Resources, mental health services, nursing, records management, and other administrative functions. The facility's management structure ensures a secure and well-operated environment for both inmates and staff.

Books and magazines ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate.

The jail offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Alternatively, setting up an account through a third-party phone company may entail high fees per minute of usage. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged. You may send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at $8.00.

Inmate Work Program - Initiated in March 2023, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Inmate Work Program is a volunteer initiative that allows sentenced inmates from Marion Municipal Court and Common Pleas Court to participate in work projects within Marion County’s government and its townships and villages. The program, strictly voluntary, involves a rigorous vetting and interview process conducted by the Sheriff’s Office, the Multi-County Correctional Center, and the sentencing court. Participants are rewarded with reduced sentences as permitted by Ohio state laws, providing them an opportunity to contribute to the community while serving their sentences. This program has been well-received by inmates, offering them a constructive way to engage with the community.

Medically Assisted Treatment (M.A.T.) Program - Under the leadership of Executive Director Aiken, the Multi-County Correctional Center has implemented the Medically Assisted Treatment (M.A.T.) Program in partnership with Spero Health and ADAMH (Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health). This program provides inmates with access to comprehensive addiction and mental health services, addressing various aspects of recovery and mental health management. The M.A.T. Program includes prevention strategies, trauma-informed care, recovery support services, and integrated mental health and addiction treatment. By offering these services, the program aims to equip inmates with essential life skills and support their journey toward recovery and reintegration into society.

Through its extensive programs and dedicated staff, the Multi-County Correctional Center demonstrates a commitment to inmate rehabilitation, community engagement, and the provision of vital health services, thereby contributing to the overall safety and well-being of Marion and Hardin Counties.
