Communication is important, the prison offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.

While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.

Established amidst the scenic surroundings of Humboldt County in 1986, the Humboldt Conservation Camp stands as a vital institution within the Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF). Its humble beginnings trace back to the utilization of 22 trailers repurposed from the Alaskan pipeline project. Serving as a designated fire camp, it plays a pivotal role in the state's firefighting efforts, capable of mobilizing up to six 10-man crews simultaneously to combat wildfires. Beyond firefighting duties, these crews undertake various project works during off-season periods, such as highway cleanup projects for the Department of Transportation or contributing to local community initiatives. Moreover, the camp's workforce is available for hire within the local community, facilitated by contacting the NDF supervisor.

With a workforce of 14 dedicated employees, the Humboldt Camp operates with the primary goal of providing a conducive environment for the rehabilitation and reintegration of its inmate population. The camp facilities comprise 76 two-man rooms, enabling it to accommodate a total of 152 minimum-custody inmates. While maintaining a focus on security and discipline, the camp also endeavors to foster an atmosphere conducive to personal growth and positive change.

At the heart of the Camp's mission are its diverse programs aimed at equipping inmates with the skills and resources necessary for successful reintegration into society. Beyond the confines of incarceration, inmates are provided with opportunities for vocational training, educational advancement, and personal development. These programs extend to offering inmates the chance to pursue a GED or high school diploma, empowering them with essential academic credentials for future endeavors.

Furthermore, the camp collaborates closely with the NDF in providing specialized training for inmates to participate in firefighting activities during the fire season. This partnership not only contributes to the state's wildfire suppression efforts but also offers inmates valuable skills and experiences that can enhance their employability upon release.

In addition to vocational and educational programs, the Humboldt Conservation Camp prioritizes treatment services aimed at addressing underlying issues such as substance abuse and mental health concerns. By providing access to counseling, therapy, and support services, the camp aims to address the root causes of criminal behavior and facilitate meaningful rehabilitation for its inmate population.

Overall, the Humboldt Conservation Camp serves as a beacon of hope for inmates seeking a path to redemption and reintegration into society. Through its comprehensive programs and collaborative efforts with external partners, it strives to instill a sense of purpose, responsibility, and self-improvement among its residents, ultimately paving the way for a brighter future beyond incarceration.
