Located in Hobbs, NM, LCCF operates as a private contractor with various government agency agreements providing state-minimum custody requirements. Programs are offered to all custody levels, including work release residents focused on reentry success. With a strong emphasis on rehabilitation, LCCF provides comprehensive educational and vocational opportunities. Onsite amenities include dietary, health, fitness, educational, religious, and recreational services. Regular inspections ensure compliance with government standards, ensuring the facility's continued operation.
The LCCF, established in 1993, operates under the NMCD. Situated on the grounds of a former World War II B-17 Training Base, it has a rich historical background. Its scope of work includes housing areas with a double-celled medium-security unit and a single-celled administrative segregation unit.
Contracted for design, construction, finance, and operation, the facility began operations in the Second Quarter of 1998, receiving its first inmates on May 15, 1998. Managed by The GEO Group, Inc. (GEO), it offers various services such as administration, fiscal management, personnel training, programs, recreation, sanitation, volunteer and religious programs, security, safety, classification, education, inmate work programs, counseling, mental health services, food, commissary, discipline, grievances, and a 60,000 sq. ft. industries area.
Spanning 404,303 sq. ft. across an 80-acre site within a double-fenced security perimeter with microwave intrusion detection, the facility complex includes an administration/visitation building, education/library building, intake-release and medical complex, industries building, four double-celled medium-security housing buildings, one double-celled maximum-security housing building, and two gymnasiums.
Designed for effective security and operational efficiency, each building serves a specific purpose within the overall correctional framework, ensuring stringent security protocols. In addition to core functions, the facility prioritizes rehabilitation and skill development. Educational programs, vocational training, counseling, and mental health services are provided to address inmate needs and promote successful reintegration into society.
Volunteer and religious programs contribute to holistic rehabilitation, addressing spiritual needs and fostering a supportive environment. The facility aims to facilitate positive behavioral change and reduce recidivism among inmates through comprehensive services and dedicated staff.
