The Ogle Co Jail is a detention center located at 601 W Washington St Oregon, IL which is operated locally by the Ogle County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Ogle County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Oregon Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals.

You can see all the arrest records for Illinois here.

Individuals who do not post bail within the first twenty-four hours are required to appear before a judge. During this first appearance, conducted either in person or via telephone, the judge informs the arrested person of the charges against them and sets the bond amount.

Following the intake process, which includes property inventory, medical screening, and booking, inmates are assigned to the general population. Housing assignments are based on the classification of their charges, whether felony or misdemeanor, to ensure proper management and safety within the facility.

After processing, inmates are assigned to a housing area based on classification. Compliance with jail rules typically results in a lower classification and more privileges, while rule violations or additional charges lead to a higher classification and fewer privileges. Inmates serving as trustees within the jail undertake various tasks, including cooking, laundry, and commissary management, often receiving minimal compensation or sentence reduction for their services.

The jail is designed with "pods," featuring a large common area with affixed tables and attached seats, and individual cells typically on two levels. Inmates spend certain times in their cells and other times congregating in the pod for activities like playing cards, games, reading, or watching television. Movement outside the pod, such as trips to the commissary, library, or recreation area, occurs under the constant supervision of unarmed correctional officers. The environment in the county jail is considered less stressful than that of a prison because the sentences are much shorter.

The jail offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Alternatively, setting up an account through a third-party phone company may entail high fees per minute of usage. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.

With this easy-to-use app, you may send letters, greeting cards, and selfies to inmates, excellent packages starting at only $8.00.

Inmate workers are chosen based on conduct and cooperation with staff. Participation in the community service program can sometimes reduce sentences. Commissary is available weekly, with orders submitted via kiosk two days in advance. On holidays, there may be increased spending limits. Upon receiving commissary items, inmates must present their ID, check their order, and sign for it in the presence of the commissary employee. Indigent inmates are provided with all essential basic hygiene items including USPS stamps and writing materials.

Individuals sentenced to serve jail time at the Ogle County Correctional Center must report to the facility's front vestibule on the designated date and time specified in their Sentencing Order. It is essential to bring a copy of the Sentencing Order upon arrival. All personal property will be secured in a property bag and stored until the sentence is completed, thus it is advisable not to bring large amounts of personal belongings. Hygiene items and extra clothing can be purchased from the commissary, with orders needing to be placed by 11:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Certain items are strictly prohibited and will be disposed of if brought to the jail. These prohibited items include weapons of any kind, all forms of cannabis, perishable food or liquids, cutting or shaving tools, all tobacco products, glass items, incendiary or explosive items, alcoholic beverages of any kind, and smoking paraphernalia. These measures ensure the safety and security of the facility and its occupants.

Inmates on Work Release will incur a daily charge of $24.00 for the entire duration of their sentence. They are permitted to bring up to three days' worth of work clothes and will have access to a washer and dryer to launder these clothes. However, inmates are not allowed to bring cell phones into the jail; any cell phone brought in will be confiscated and stored with their personal property until their sentence is completed. Work tools are also prohibited and will be disposed of if brought to the jail. Inmates may leave cell phones and work tools in their vehicles, with their driver, or at their workplace.

Inmates on Work Release have the option to have a lunch provided by the jail to take to work. A cooler or lunch box will be issued to the inmate, who will be responsible for ensuring its return daily. Inmates who damage or fail to return the cooler or lunch box will be charged for the cost of a replacement.

Before an inmate can leave for work on their first day, specific documentation is required. This includes a Proof of Employment Letter on company letterhead, detailing the hire date, work schedule (including days and hours worked, with a weekly schedule provided if hours vary), method of payment (weekly or biweekly), immediate supervisor's name, phone number with extension, and email, the actual work site address if different from the letterhead address, and a signature from Human Resource Personnel or the company owner. Additionally, the most recent pay stub must be provided, or, if paid in cash, supporting tax information from the previous year.

Transportation information is also necessary, including a valid driver's license for the inmate or their driver(s), current vehicle registration, proof of insurance for the vehicle(s) being driven, and the route taken to work. Every person driving the inmate to work must present all the aforementioned documentation, please review the Ogle County Work Release Packet to understand the specifics of the program.

All other rules and regulations will be discussed with the inmate upon arrival at the jail.
