The Perry Co Jail is a detention center located at 12 E Water St Pinckneyville, IL which is operated locally by the Perry County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Perry County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Pinckneyville Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals.

The Perry County Jail serves as a facility for the confinement of individuals arrested and accused of crimes, as well as those convicted and sentenced by the courts. The institution's mission prioritizes public, staff, and inmate safety while ensuring operations remain cost-effective. Inmates are held accountable for their actions, with programs available to help them recognize their errors and move forward productively. The environment is designed to ensure that inmates leave no worse physically, emotionally, or mentally than when they entered. A positive atmosphere is fostered through trained correctional staff, behavior-based incentives for inmates, and access to various growth-oriented programs to aid in their re-entry into the community. The staff at Perry County Jail is dedicated to preserving the basic needs and constitutional rights of inmates as outlined by the Illinois Department of Corrections and the U.S. Constitution.

Inmates are provided with three well-balanced meals each day. Medical, dental, and mental health services are available, with inmates required to submit a health request form for medical services. Certain medical services incur a fee, though inmates are not denied care due to insufficient funds. Recreational opportunities are provided in the Recreation Room and Library according to scheduled times unless restricted. Televisions are available in each living area, except for isolated or segregated units. Inmates cannot receive incoming calls, and messages are not taken for them. All outgoing calls are either collect or made using a phone card purchased from the commissary, with phone cards priced at $5, $10, and $20, and a charge of $0.50 per minute. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.

Books and magazines ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. The Jail enforces this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.

The jail offers commissary services where approved items can be purchased by inmates, with costs deducted from their established accounts. All inmates receive jail clothing, bedding, and linens to ensure comfortable, sanitary, and environmentally suitable conditions. These items are exchanged regularly for clean replacements. Additionally, inmates are allowed to maintain one complete set of clothing for court appearances.

Visitation Information

The Visitor™ Video Visitation System is now available to Perry County friends and family members. Registration and scheduling are available at www.icsolutions.com!

Perry County offers The Visitor™ video visitation system which allows friends, family members, and professionals the control to schedule and conduct video visits at a time convenient for them and avoid wasting time waiting in long lines or traveling to the facility. Video visitation replaces traditional face-to-face visits on visitation telephones through a glass partition with visitation through video kiosks and is conducted with the inmate never having to leave their housing unit while the visitor can choose to visit onsite at the facility or offsite from anywhere. All adult visitors must register (at no cost) to participate in a video visitation session with an inmate at this facility. See the helpful links below.

VISITATION - Visit from the jail - Video visitation is conducted using the video terminals located in the facility’s visitation center.

Visit from a personal Windows computer or Android device. The visitor can choose to conduct an OFFSITE visit from a Windows computer or from any Android device by downloading The Visitor™ Android app, ICS MOBILE, from the Google Play store. OFFSITE visits are fee-based. Internet connectivity issues during offsite visits will not be refunded. Visitors wishing to participate in OFFSITE visitation are required to download and test the visitation application either from their Windows computer or Android device before they will be able to schedule a visitation.
