The Detention Facility houses the State of Georgia convicted prison inmates and works very closely with the Georgia Department of Corrections, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the US Marshal Service under the supervision and management of the GEO Group, a private prison company 768 inmates. These inmates are mainly classified as minimum to medium-risk inmates. Approximately 55% of the prison workforce is classified as minimum security and can work under civilian supervision. The remaining inmates are classified as medium custody and work directly under the watchful eyes of Corrections Officers outside or inside the Prison.

Inmates at this facility can participate in work detail that include supervised crews within the parks and recreation department, refuse and landfill, water authority, and custodial positions with various government agencies. The Chaplain's office offers religious studies, a choir, and worship/prayer services. Inmates can also earn a GED, and learn new vocational skills such as automotive repair, water treatment plant operator, building maintenance, and landscaping.

Work details encompass a variety of tasks including public works, parks and recreation, building and maintaining refuse control, police department support, custodial duties, central services, landfill maintenance, garage operations, water authority tasks, graffiti abatement, and forced cleanings. Additionally, the facility offers a range of programs such as academic pursuits like General Education Diploma (GED) attainment, counseling services including individual and group sessions, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, Motivation for Change programs, and re-entry assistance. Recreation opportunities are available for general enjoyment, while religious activities encompass various worship services, Bible study sessions, and choir participation. Vocational and on-the-job training (OJT) programs cover areas like food services, automotive maintenance, building maintenance, water treatment plant operations, landscaping, and grass cutting, providing inmates with valuable skills and opportunities for personal development.

Social Visits

Day Time Visitation for Male Detainee Population Monday – Thursday 12:30 p.m. – 4:25 p.m. Visitation for Restricted Housing Unit (RHU) Detainees Tuesday (Only) 1 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. Note: Detainees in Administrative and Protective Custody are allowed visitation on the same basis as those in general population. Visitation for Female Detainee Population Friday (Only) 12:30 p.m. – 4:25 p.m.
  • To ensure adequate time to process visitors through security, all visitors must arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visit time.
  • Visitors must present a valid verifiable / non-expired government-issued picture identification card to enter the facility.
  • Visits shall not exceed 30 minutes unless otherwise approved by the Facility Administrator or designee.
  • Two (2) adult visitors per detainee are allowed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The number of children allowed will be based on space availability.
  • All visitors under the age of eighteen (18) will be accompanied by an approved adult or access to the facility will not be granted. Visitors under the age of eighteen (18) do not need an approved visitation form.
    • Note: Teenagers ages 13 – 17 years of age are recommended to provide a birth certificate, state identification card or student identification card as proof of age verification.
