The San Juan Co Detention is a detention center located at 871 Andrea Dr Farmington, NM which is operated locally by the San Juan County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. San Juan County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Farmington Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. San Juan County Adult Detention Center is a full-service county operated facility. The Detention Center is responsible for the operations of the county jail as entrusted by the citizens of San Juan County to provide safe, secure and humane housing to all detainees in custody. Court commitments are held for no more than 364 days.

Some minimum risk employed inmates may qualify to work at their regular wage-paying job while incarcerated. This program allows for some already employed inmates to continue working in order to maintain financial support for their family and pay restitution to victims.

Other minimum risk offenders may qualify for non-paying assignment as inmate workers in the facility kitchen or other tasks related to Detention Center functions. Local agencies utilize inmate workers for labor on public projects. Some examples of labor performed include laying sod in soccer fields, filling sandbags for flooding, cleaning fairgrounds, graffiti removal, county-wide trash clean up and McGee Park.
