The Socorro County NM Detention Center is a detention center located at 200 Church St Socorro, NM which is operated locally by the Socorro County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Socorro County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Socorro Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals.

Visitation Information

You must be 18 years or older to visit an inmate, no exceptions. Please bring a valid ID with you at the time of visitation. Each inmate is allowed up to two visits per week, one per visitation day, and one person per visitation. All visits are non-contact. All visitations must be scheduled on the day of the visit by calling 575.835.0945 x1505, between the hours of 10 AM and 12 PM. Requests made outside of those hours will not be considered. If you are unable to reach anyone at this number please hang up and dial 575.835.0945 x1503. Visitation appointments are made on a first come first serve basis. Visits for male inmates are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, visits for females inmates are on Fridays only. The hours of visitation are 6:30 PM through 8:30 PM. The time block is determined by inmate's pod assignment. Visits are limited to 30-minutes each Visitors must comply with all dress, conduct, incarceration and age rules outlined in the Inmate Handbook. Please be aware that visitation may be cancelled at any time for any reason.
