Located in Basile, LA, SLPC operates as a private contractor with various government agency agreements providing state-minimum custody requirements. Programs are offered to all custody levels, including work release residents focused on reentry success. The South Louisiana ICE Processing Center, formerly known as the South Louisiana Correctional Facility, is a privately owned and operated prison facility situated in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. Managed by The GEO Group, Inc., it can accommodate up to 1,000 inmates.

Initially, the facility housed inmates for the Louisiana Department of Corrections, accommodating both male and female individuals across various security levels, including minimum, medium, and maximum, it served as a correctional institution for state inmates.

In April 2019, The GEO Group, Inc. announced a contract modification with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the reactivation of the facility. Under this modification, the facility was repurposed to house male and female ICE detainees awaiting immigration court hearings and deportation proceedings.

Visitation Information

Visiting

  • Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays: 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Special visits for ICE detainees may be arranged Mondays through Fridays between 9 a.m and 3 p.m. by submitting a request to the Warden.
  • To ensure adequate time to process visitors through security, all visitors must be checked in by 2:30 p.m.

Visitors must present a valid verifiable government-issued identification card to enter the facility.

Visits shall not exceed 2 hours.

Minors who are visiting the facility must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older). Minors must not be left unaccompanied in the waiting room, visiting room or any other area.

Visiting Restrictions

  • All family or other social visits are contact.
  • No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted in the facility.
  • If visitors are or appear to be intoxicated, visitation will not be allowed.
  • All visitors are subject to search while in the facility.
  • Visitors are not allowed to pass or attempt to pass any items to detainees.
  • Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area.
