The Spokane Community Corrections Center is overseen by the Spokane Sheriff's Department and consists of six community-based programs that supervise both pre-sentenced and post-sentenced offenders, prioritizing public safety and cost-effective alternatives to incarceration. Working in collaboration with the County's Work Release Center, located at 715 E Sprague Ave Spokane, WA, and other criminal justice agencies, the division oversees thousands of offenders in the community.

A Community Corrections Facility is a structured, supportive environment designed for low-risk offenders and those nearing the end of their sentences, with a primary goal of rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society. Unlike traditional high-security prisons, these facilities offer programs that focus on personal development, employment skills, and behavioral health, addressing the needs of individuals through targeted support. Common offerings include substance abuse treatment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, anger management, and vocational training, equipping residents with tools to overcome personal challenges and establish constructive habits.

Many Community Corrections facilities also feature work release programs, allowing individuals to work outside during the day and return in the evening, fostering a sense of responsibility and aiding the transition back into the community. Security is maintained through a combination of supervision and strict adherence to facility rules, ensuring a safe and structured environment. By promoting accountability and providing practical resources, Community Corrections facilities play a vital role in reducing recidivism, supporting public safety, and empowering residents to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.

The Community Corrections Center, to be situated on the County Campus, is strategically planned for its accessibility to transportation and essential services. This center is intended to host several comprehensive programs aimed at reducing recidivism rates.

Currently, community corrections programs operate out of the Geiger Corrections Center, encompassing a variety of rehabilitative and educational initiatives. These include parenting courses, cognitive development programs, GED preparation, drug and alcohol treatment, community service opportunities, work crews, and work release programs.

Plans are underway to expand the offerings at the new downtown Community Correction Center, with the addition of anger management, job search assistance, and computer skills training programs slated for later this year. Once operational, all existing and new programs will be centralized at this location, enhancing the support provided to individuals transitioning back into the community.
