The Stanislaus County Re-entry and Enhanced Alternatives located at 194 E Hackett Rd Modesto, CA, focuses on successful offender reintegration into society, crucial for effective crime control. With high recidivism rates, evidence-based practices tailor programs for medium to high-risk individuals, reducing repeat offenses. Reentry and Treatment Centers offer structured environments and various programs aiding rehabilitation and community reconnection efforts. Collaborating with the Stanislaus Sheriff's Department, the California Department of Corrections, and sometimes the US Marshal Service/Federal Bureau of Prisons, comprehensive reentry services prioritize education, substance abuse treatment, and workforce development. Facilities assist officers in monitoring compliance and serve as alternatives to pretrial detention, considering cost-effectiveness and reducing overcrowding. Emphasizing individual needs, family support, and community integration, the center aims for holistic support, empowering successful reintegration.
The Re-Entry and Enhanced Alternatives to Custody Training (REACT) facility, opened in 2018, stands as a pioneering program-based detention center at the Stanislaus County Detention Campus. With a rated capacity of 288 inmates, REACT is designed with an open dayroom environment that fosters a rehabilitative atmosphere. The facility's primary focus is on providing incarcerated adults with educational and vocational training opportunities, aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills for successful re-entry into society.
In addition to its in-custody programs, the Sheriff’s Jail Alternatives Unit at REACT offers two significant programs: the Home Detention Program (HD) and the Alternative Work Program (AWP). The Home Detention Program allows eligible inmates to serve their sentences at home in Stanislaus County while continuing their regular employment. The Alternative Work Program offers an opportunity for inmates to perform eight to ten hours of general labor for each day of jail time, providing a productive alternative to traditional incarceration.
The evaluation for participation in these programs is an extension of the classification process, with Jail Alternatives staff ensuring that any placement is made in the best interest of public safety. Each application is assessed on a case-by-case basis, considering factors such as the severity of the current charge, circumstances of the case, victim impact, criminal history, prior participation in similar programs, and in-custody behavior. The approval or denial of program participation is at the sole discretion of the Sheriff’s Department, emphasizing that these opportunities are privileges, not rights.
All forms must be delivered in person with the supporting documentation. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
REACT's innovative approach highlights Stanislaus County’s commitment to alternative incarceration methods, focusing on rehabilitation and reintegration while maintaining public safety.
The camp offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Alternatively, setting up an account through a third-party phone company may entail high fees per minute of usage. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.
Books and magazines ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. The Jail enforces this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.
