Communication is important, the prison offers a phone program for outbound calls only, with inmates unable to receive incoming calls. Accepting collect calls can be expensive, sometimes exceeding $10 per call. Click here for discounts on inmate calls, especially if the communication with your inmate is frequent. It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.

While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.

WI DOC - McNaughton Correctional Center - Inmate Handbook

The McNaughton Correctional Center (MCC) sits just west of the Town of Lake Tomahawk, Oneida County, on a 60-acre parcel adjacent to Little Tomahawk Lake. Originally established in 1931 as a forestry camp in the town of McNaughton, it relocated to its current site in 1957 after the closure of the Lake Tomahawk Tuberculosis Rehabilitation Camp. The center, comprising seven buildings, utilizes some original structures from the Tuberculosis Camp, now listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings. MCC's rated capacity is 102 adult male inmates, overseen by a staff of 22 permanent members.

Inmates at MCC engage in various full-time work assignments supporting center operations, with 12 inmates involved in off-ground community service and state forestry projects daily. Additionally, 40 to 50 inmates participate in work release and public trust assignments within local communities. The center operates a sawmill, wood production shop, and cabinet shop. On-site, GED/HSED classes and alcohol and chemical dependency support groups are available, aiming to prepare inmates for successful reintegration into society upon release. Work release programs with local employers are offered, emphasizing sustained employment post-release, while community service opportunities and the Oneida County Humane Society Canine Development Program provide avenues for positive community engagement.

Regarding inmate incarceration, intake at primary reception sites involves orientation on security expectations, daily living routines, and business matters, followed by assessment and evaluation by health, psychological, and classification services. Options during incarceration include a range of programs and activities tailored to individual needs, spanning education, skills training, community service, and rehabilitation. Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Career Technical Education (CTE)/Vocational Programs are available at various correctional institutions, catering to inmates' academic and vocational needs. Pre-release planning aims to facilitate successful community reintegration through individualized planning, support system establishment, and referrals for post-release assistance.

Furthermore, electronic messaging through the CorrLinks system facilitates communication between inmates and their contacts outside the facility, offering a cost-effective and monitored communication channel. However, access to kiosks may vary across facilities, with certain factors influencing frequency. The CorrLinks website provides resources for registration, account management, and support, ensuring effective communication while adhering to facility guidelines and procedures.
