It's important to remember that all phone calls are recorded, and discussing sensitive legal matters over these lines is discouraged.

While incarcerated, reading is often the best use of time. Please note that books and magazines, puzzles, and word searches ordered for inmates must come directly from the publisher. This policy ensures that the items are new, untampered, and comply with the facility's regulations. Prisons and jails enforce this rule to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited materials. By restricting orders to publishers, the facility can better maintain security and control over the content entering the institution. Any books or magazines not received directly from the publisher will be rejected and not delivered to the inmate. You may, however, send letters and selfies to inmates with this easy-to-use app, packages starting at only $8.00.

Housing over 752 adult females across various custody levels, TCI conducts intake processes that include extensive testing, criminal history review, and mental health evaluations to determine security classifications and suitable programs for inmates.

Secured by a 12-foot high fence topped with razor wire and equipped with electronic detection systems, TCI offers vocational training in dental laboratory technology, building maintenance, construction, office software, and cosmetology. Inmates engage in facility jobs ranging from food services to maintenance, landscaping, recycling, and laundry. With a mission to protect the public and promote offender rehabilitation, TCI emphasizes education, programming, work, and constructive activities to foster personal growth and independence. The institution adheres to professional healthcare standards, ensuring consistent care for female offenders.

TCI's history dates back to the early 1800s when Gov. James Doty established a home in Fond du Lac, evolving into the Wisconsin Industrial Home for Women in 1921. Over the years, expansions and renovations responded to the rising female offender population, with upgrades including new housing units, a special management unit, and expanded health services.

Incarcerated individuals undergo reception, orientation, and assessment processes upon arrival, determining security classifications, program assignments, and site placements. Various programs and activities are available during incarceration, covering areas like education, vocational training, and personal development.

The Division of Adult Institutions offers diverse programs, including anger management, substance abuse treatment, cognitive behavioral programs, domestic violence intervention, career technical education, and sex offender treatment. Inmates are screened for program suitability upon classification, with successful completion potentially leading to reduced custody levels and enhanced rehabilitation.

Inmate communication is facilitated through the CorrLinks system, enabling electronic messaging at a nominal cost. Recipients can manage contact requests and messages through the platform, ensuring appropriate communication channels while inmates prepare for reentry.
