Visitation Hours

The County Jail provides on-site and online visitation options to help inmates maintain contact with family and friends.

On-Site Visitation Hours

  • Monday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Thursday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Sunday: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Holidays - call for available times and reserve yours as these days are the busiest times of the year

Visitors must follow the dress code and behavior guidelines whether they are visiting here or from their computer/smartphone. Violations may result in the termination of the visit.

Online Video Visitation
Online visits can be scheduled in advance, allowing remote connection from home or work. Visitors must set up an account and adhere to dress and behavior guidelines. Visits cost a minimum of $0.25 per minute and are monitored for security.

Visitation Rules

  • There is NO physical contact during visits.
  • All visits will be one hour in length.
  • All new inmates must wait seventy-two (72) hours before being allowed a visit.
  • Inmates in Disciplinary Segregation may be denied a visit.
  • (NOTE: This does not include visits from legal counsel or clergy.)
  • Inmates sequestered for Medical Observation must first receive clearance from the Health Care Provider for visits.
  • It is the responsibility of the inmate to let visitors know when visitation is.
  • All inmates and visitors must conduct themselves with respect and consideration for others during visits. Any inmate or visitor who is loud and/or rude, uses profane language, or involves himself/herself in a physical or verbal confrontation with a visitor, or any other person, in the lobby or during visits, will lose his/her visiting privileges. Unacceptable physical contact includes, but is not limited to, petting and reaching inside or under any article of clothing, or any contact that staff deems inappropriate.
  • Visitors must sign in prior to being allowed to visit an inmate. This form includes the visitor’s date of birth, address and relationship to the inmate.
  • Visitors are expected to arrive thirty (30) minutes prior to their scheduled visit. Visitors who are late will not be permitted to visit that day.
  • Visitors must show positive proof of identification (Photo ID) before being permitted to visit.
  • Visitors and their children will remain in the lobby until their visit. Once signed in visitors may not leave the lobby area or go to their vehicle.
  • Any visitor, whose behavior is apparently under the influence of intoxicants, is unruly, disruptive, gross or disturbing to the rights and sensibility of others, or dangerous to the facility may be excluded or removed.
  • Visitors suspected of being under the influence of intoxicants will not be permitted to visit.
  • Any person with pending charges, on probation or is a convicted felon will not be allowed to visit, unless they have prior approval from the Jail Superintendent or designee.
  • Visitors will be denied visiting privileges when there is reasonable belief that he or she poses a threat to the safety and security of the facility.
  • Visitors under the age of eighteen (18) will not be allowed in for visits unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Juveniles who are emancipated must show proof of such. Visitors under the age of eighteen (18) are subject to all Visitation Rules and Regulations.
  • Visitors and inmates will be dressed appropriately or the visit will be denied. The body must be fully clothed at all times. Bare feet are not permitted. Halter, tank and tube tops are not permitted. Miniskirts are prohibited. Hair curlers, hats or caps may not be worn. Clothing similar to that worn by the inmate population is not allowed to be worn by visitors.
  • Visitors will submit to a metal detector examination prior to the visit. If the visitor refuses he/she will be denied a visit. If there is probable cause to believe that a visitor possesses contraband the visitor is subject to further search.
  • No one who has been incarcerated at the York County Jail or any other facility may visit until thirty (30) days after release.
  • Visitors are not allowed to bring any item(s) to and from visitation.
  • Exception: Visitors, with a baby may NOT bring any items for the baby in with them. Visitors may wear wedding bands, Medical Alert Tags and Religious Medallions.
  • It is the responsibility of the visitor to properly supervise their minor children. If the minor child becomes disruptive the visitor and child will be asked to leave.
  • The York County Jail is a smoke free facility. Smoking is prohibited. All tobacco products and lighting materials are considered contraband and must be left outside of the facility.
  • Passing anything between the inmate and visitor is prohibited.
  • No more than one adult and one child per inmate shall be allowed in for visitation. (Children are considered to be twelve (12) years of age or younger.)
  • Visitors may leave clothes for inmates with Superior Court appearances up to twenty-four hours prior to court.
  • Property for inmates will not be accepted at visitation.
  • All visitors will leave all unnecessary personal items secured in their vehicles or unsecured in the lobby at their own risk. The York County Jail will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.
  • Visitors will remain seated for the duration of the visit.
  • Visitors and inmates will not cross the table for any reason.
  • Visitors and inmates are not allowed to converse with other visitors or inmates in the Visitation Area.
  • Visitors and inmates will not disturb the visitation by asking to use the restroom. If a request is made the visit will be terminated.
  • Visitors are not allowed to bring cameras or cellular telephones inside the jail without prior approval from the Jail Superintendent.

Visitors will leave jail property upon completion of their visit.
Any violation of Visitation Rules and Regulations will be just cause for denying or terminating the visit, and possibly any future visits.
The Visitation Officer may deny or terminate visitation with just cause.

There are three (3) types of visitation: CONTACT, NON-CONTACT AND VIDEO CONFERENCE.

There are no exceptions to the Visitation Rules and Regulations. Any violation of these rules could result in termination of further visits.

Special Management (C-1), segregation inmates, and inmates in C-2 First Floor will receive non-contact visitation. Visits with attorneys, clergy and counselors may be contact. All other inmates will have Video Conferencing, with the opportunity for contact visitation on every 1st and 3rd weekends of the month.
