How do you adjust to the outside world after ten years in prison?

My friend has been in prison for 10years. Hes getting out in 2months. He's institutionalized. How do i help him to adjust to being on the outside?

Re-entry after tens years is going to take some time. He will most likely be in a halfway house for a few months to help with the adjustment. Everything is going to be brand new to him. Think about the changes in technology alone, he has a lot of catching up to do. You will have to be very patient. His internal clock, his routine for ten years is not going to fit right away - you're gonna have to be flexible too. Expect him to be frustrated and confused about a lot of things. It is just going to take time.
