Usually there is no big difference except for the size of the palce. They are all confining, tough places to live for any period of time. Being locked-up is the same everywhere. If you are going to ride or die, then make sure you are sending him stuff to read. There is no better wqay to do your time then escaping through reading a good book.

Yes there is a distinct possibility that he could do fed time and state time. If he was picked up for missing a sentencing that is not good and might make the judge angry when he is sentenced. The federal case of smuggling illegals is a serious charge that will likely cost him 5-10 years depending upon the particulars. If he is lucky, they will run the sentences "concurrent" which means they will happen at the same time.

You can use the bop.gov inmate locator. If you know they are in RRM Montgomery, it means that they are in the halfway house. But, there are several locations in the Montgomery region and you will not find the actual halfway house listed on the BOP website. His release date is November 23, 2015.
