All letters and photos are delivered daily by US Mail. It will take one or two days but please be mindful that the prison staff will open every piece of mail for contraband. Therefore, the actual delivery date that it makes it to mail call depends solely on the prison staff.

InmateAid sends letters daily through USPS, you get notification in your member account the moment they are mailed. Inmates do not have access to the Internet and can only correspond through the mail with stamps they buy at the prison commissary

If you have researched the inmate's name in the Inmate Locator and there is no ID #, you may send the letter without the number. There are some facilities that do not have numbers for their inmates.

He should meet with his counselor or unit team manager to request the form to send earned or accrued inmate trust account money home. Depending upon the facility he may get his balance in cash or on a debit card upon release, too. Every prison system is different, have him find out the rules.

Inmates are tested for tuberculosis every year but are NOT tested for sexually transmitted diseases. There are provisions of disclosure where the admittance staff will interview the inmate and ask if they have HIV or hepatitis so as to know if the inmate will need special medical treatment.

Friends and family members can follow an inmate to stay connected via posts by the manager of the account. Visitation updates, pictures and wish list items are posted for the benefit of the people who wish to help the inmate they follow.

Inmates are nosy and will try to find out anything they can to exploit other inmates. Predatory inmates look for weaknesses in other inmates, especially new ones. DO NOT offer any information about your case and NEVER let another inmate know you co-operated, being called a snitch is the worst thing an inmate can be labeled; and yes it is dangerous to do so.
