Answers From Ask The Inmate
Q: So... recently I asked about the formatting in the emails and why when the text is separated by paragraphs, it comes out jumbled together in one huge paragraph. I just figured out that when we create new paragraphs, we need to hold and hit instead of just Enter. That will create the new paragraph properly.. :-)
Q: I live in New York and I'm trying to figure out the best most cost effective way to visit Mayo Work Camp. I can either fly, take a bus or train into Jacksonville. Do you know if there is any type of bus service from Jacksonville to the Work Camp? Or if it's not in Jacksonville, are you aware of ANY bus service from any part of Florida to the Mayo Work Camp? Thanks
Q: There is a letters FROM inmates link and I'm curious to know how that works. I am about to relocate from NY to NC and it will be a while before I have a permanent address, so I'm thinking that if I could get mail from him and have the ability to read it here that would be great. Does he write to your address and then the letter gets scanned or transcribed so I can read it? Thanks
Q: I am SUCH a fan of this site! :-) Could you please give me the mailing address for him to write at Inmate Aid so I can access his letters here? Also, do I have an account number that he needs to reference when he writes?
Q: Greetings and Happy New Year: I'd like to make a suggestion. In addition to being able to add photos to letters, could you consider adding a feature where we can add .pdf or.doc documents? For instance, when a full size document needs to be sent, like a phone bill, it would be nice to be able to add it here instead of having to mail it separately. Thanks. RMatthews
Q: Hello: I sent a letter on Wednesday with 3 photos of our grandson for which I was charged $5.86. Will received the letter this evening but there were no photos included. Can someone explain this and what will be done to rectify it? Thanks Renee Matthews
Q: Frustrated.... I sent my fiancee three books via Amazon, and upon placing the order, I opened a chat window and told the rep that these books MUST be sent via USPS or the prison will reject the delivery. She assured me that she would take care of it. Well, sure enough, they shipped it UPS and it was returned. If Amazon is the ONLY means of sending books, then WHY is it that they dont know that they need to ship via USPS? HOW can I send him books without them being returned?
Q: Good Evening: You may share this with your members if you like... So Amazon does not allow you to choose a mail carrier when sending Books and the prisons will ONLY accept packages if they're shipped using US Postal Service. BUT! If you use the prison's PO Box as the mailing address then they HAVE to use the USPS because the other carriers (FedEx and UPS) do not ship to PO Box. The prison's mail room may not be onsite, so the best thing to do is to call and find out where the mail is delivered to and ask if there is a corresponding PO Box for that address. :-)
