The Bedford Adult Detention Center, operated under the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority (BRRJA), enforces strict visitation rules to maintain security and order. All visitors are subject to search, and failure to comply with established guidelines may result in visitation denial. Visitation schedules may be delayed or canceled without notice due to operational needs.
To visit an inmate, individuals must be listed on the inmate’s approved visitation list. Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or submit a notarized Juvenile Visitation Form, which can be obtained from the officer on duty. Only non-incarcerated parents or legal guardians can authorize juvenile visits. A valid, undamaged photo ID is required, and the name on the ID must match the name on the inmate’s list. Visitors may only visit once per week, and former inmates must wait six months after release before they are eligible to visit. No more than three adult visitors may visit an inmate at one time.
Electronic devices, including cell phones, recording devices, and any unauthorized electronic equipment, are strictly prohibited within the visitation area unless pre-approved by the Site Administrator. Visitors are advised to leave personal belongings in their vehicles.
The facility enforces a strict dress code to maintain decorum during visits:
Visitors may bring only the following approved items for inmates:
Additionally, attorneys, Probation and Parole Officers, and Social Services Workers may leave legal documents and other pre-approved items with detention center staff.
These rules ensure a safe, structured, and secure visitation process while upholding the facility's operational integrity. Visitors must comply with all regulations to maintain access to visitation privileges.
