Answers From Ask The Inmate
Q: I have recently been assigned to Fort Dix for voluntary surrender. My sentence is 30 months for a white collar non violent crime. I understand their is low security and minimum security camp. How do I know which one I will be assigned to?
Q: I have a letter from my psychologist, who is also listed throughout my PSR recommending me for RDAP. Will they accept that? I will be carrying the letter with me when I surrender. Also what else do I bring when I surrender? I have an ironman Timex watch, all white shoes, white boxers, and white t shirts all with no labels that I will where when I surrender. I have my bible and 1 sheet of paper printed with all my contacts phone, email and address friends and family.
Q: I've been sentenced to 30 months in federal for a white collar crime and I am eligible for RDAP. I understand the rules have changed for sentence reduction for those sentenced to 31 or less months. The bop list up to 6 months reduction. So with good time (4.5 months at 85%), 6 months for RDAP completion, and 6 month is in a halfway house or home confinement? How much actual time will I serve at Federal Fort Dix before being transferred if I successfully complete RDAP?
Q: When I call the Fort Dix main # 609-723-1100 and press option #2 and then #1 for current visitation it states that unit 5851 and the camp are on restriction. What is causing a federal camp to be on restriction? And does restriction mean no visitors at all?
Q: I self surrender to Fort Dix in September. I currently use a mouth guard for sleep apnea issues, will they allow me to bring the mouth guard in. It's rubber and looks like what is used for sports. if not used I snore extremely loud and I'm afraid as I will be living with several inmates in dormitory style.
Q: I'm entering Fort Dix, I've seen that there are close to 5,000 inmates. how can all but a few get prison jobs with that many inmates? I've read that there are only 200 jobs available what do you do if you can't work due to their being no work available?
Q: At fort Dix will 1 time purchases like radio, headphones, or email/phone minutes count towards the $320 monthly spending limit?
Q: For fort Dix to mail a letter Do we just put inmate bop 8 digit number and his name an the PO BOX 2000 or do we have to know exactly which unit the inmate is living in?
Q: Can my family mail printed calendar sheets as we planned visitation days ahead of time and I can see their daily schedules ? Basically are calendars aloud?
